Because what used to unite us – the wisdom of the ages – has now become politically incorrect in the classroom and in all forms of media, and political correctness is enforced with a vengeance by those with the reins of power. The need: wise, charismatic, strong leadership.
There once was a man from Cabreel // Who contended that pain is not real; // But he said with chagrin, // As he sat on a pin, // “I dislike what I fancy I feel.“
Who was it that said, “Insanity is an inherited disease; you get it from your children“? If that’s true, then I guess we can assume that most of us will eventually become a little crazy. And some of us crazies occasionally do something worthwhile.
Yes, it is a big problem. The problem Is that, for term limits to go into effect, the Constitution would need to be amended. However, for the Constitution to be amended, 2/3 of the members of Congress would need to vote to limit their own length of service – that is, they would need to vote to shorten their own political careers. That seems unlikely. Another way to amend the Constitution would be for the states to call together a constitutional convention for that purpose. That seems equally unlikely. But who knows – some unforeseen circumstance or political development might some day make one of those options successful.
So sad…
