August 8, 1978 marked Odie’s first appearance in the Garfield comic strip. I do not know why they do not acknowledge that every year.
July 28th is Jon Arbuckle’s birthday (it mirrors that of Jim Davis). The others should have shown Jon a perfect day for his birthday.
I love this pun. I didn’t get it at first, but the pun on the word “Chin” makes it funny.
Today is Jon’s birthday (every July 28th). They should have done this the other way around: Everyone gives Jon a perfect day for his birthday.

Kind of like The Big Catnap episode of Garfield and Friends.
Imagine if that was the giant baby kangaroo, or giant jumping mouse from the Sylvester cartoons.
These days, Garfield has a cell phone, so he could easily text Jon and tell him that he doesn’t like to eat mice. He can also tell Jon any of his other thoughts the same way we read them.
