I fully understand. I used to have an armchair and matching (sleeping-) sofa from my grandparents. They bought it at Neckermann in 1956 after they moved from the hut camp (where they lived for 10 years) in Flensburg to a small town near Stuttgart after the war. Because we had not enough money at the time to get them refurbished I had to throw the chair and sofa away about 20 years ago. I still miss them heartbreakingly much! Bought the second sofa since then snd am still not as comfortable and content as I was with the old one on ehich my grandad slept for the second half of his long life.

It reminds me of this refrain: “One step, Two step, Three step, FourDrag me to the middle, then you pulled me to the floorGlitterball – Radiate round the hallAs the great unloved go dancing all the way” (Simple Minds)

Nowadays you can’t get sofas like they used to make.

    Thank you much, Marsha.

(Hope the “bad” of your town does not affect you!)
