It’s Air and Water Show time here. It officially starts Saturday, but, obviously, the Blue Angels are here practicing, learning the area, and my entire apartment is rattling as they keep flying over. I live a five-minute walk from the central location. Over a million people come to my neighborhood for the show, so my area becomes a trashed-out traffic jam for a few days (the trash is rapidly cleaned up).
I actually love it. I think it’s so thrilling. Most of my neighbors disagree.
We all have ditzy moments, just some are more public than others.
A friend of mine brought her famous pineapple-upside-down cake to a party.
“Where are the pineapples?” we asked.
Oops.
She not only forgot, she didn’t even notice. And no, she was not elderly.
(For those of you who aren’t familiar, the pineapple slices bake on the bottom of the cake pan, then the finished cake is turned upside down to serve, so the pineapple slices are on top.)
“Sorry to hear that.”
“Aren’t you going to do anything about it?”
“I just did. I said I was sorry.”
