The biggest gravity lenses of all are the ones produced by galaxy clusters. It’s those ones that allow the Webb telescope to observe the most distant galaxies, going back almost to the Big Bang.
If I recall correctly, it was Mercury that Eddington used during the total eclipse to show that Einstein was correct. Essentially, its apparent location differed from its actual location because the light reflecting off it was bent by gravity as it passed near the Sun, as predicted by Einstein’s theory. The gravitational lenses that have been observed are more dramatic examples of the same phenomena (look up images of Einstein rings).
That particular contribution is beyond Bucky’s capabilities. He’s more likely to end up writing something like the Hungarian phrasebook from Monty Python.
It’s also the only spacecraft actually used by humans that is still in space as a derelict, as it was put into a heliocentric orbit after Stafford and Cernan rejoined Young in the command module. The other lunar modules crashed back onto the Moon after they were abandoned (except for Apollo 13’s, which burned up in the Earth’s atmosphere after being used as a lifeboat to bring the astronauts back to Earth following the explosion in the service module). A few years ago, astronomers spotted an object that they think is probably Snoopy, still orbiting the Sun.
