My parents finished half of the cellar. One side became a bedroom for one of my brothers, and an office for Dad. The other half stayed wonderfully cellar-y.

My mother always made sure that there were wafer cookies in her cookie jar whenever we brought our girls to see them. Granted, it was only a 1/2-hour drive so it was more frequent than this family…

Rover isn’t really dissing the twins, either; he’s surprised by Red’s lack of concern. (“Double-Mintz twins”…love that!)

I vividly remember my dad buying a little white steering wheel with a red horn button for my sorry excuse of a ’60s car seat, which had white vinyl cushions with a small-flowered pattern. Oh, and there are no photos of it.

…of course, because girls can’t be superhero fans. snark I was all about Spidey when I was a kid and have enjoyed all of the MCU movies & even a few of the DCUs. My take is…why can’t Batman and Ranger Rory work together?

That’s like most of Texas. I remember us in the car going mile after mile with nothing but flat, flat, flat, when, suddenly…POOF we were in a city! I don’t even remember the transition.

Family vacations – and this includes the few times my husband & I made the trek – driving down the east coast from NH, it seemed to take forever to go through PA and VA. I remember one time there was an accident and traffic was brought to a standstill. We were at mile marker 203. I’ll never forget that silly little mile marker sign; it was the only thing to look at.

We didn’t use headphones in the car when we went on long car trips. I remember the last one: it was just my parents, my younger brother & me, but we stopped in Maryland to pick u my oldest sister. She was 30 & I was 17. My dad was good about having the radio on pop stations (although he preferred country). However, I’m sure he was regretting that when “Crocodile Rock” came on & my sister & I really got into belting the ♫ LAAAAAAA lalalala LAAAAAAAA ♫ part. Yeah, she may have been 30 and me, 17, but when that song came on, we both turned 12!

Actually, while Daltry did suffer from some hearing loss, it’s Pete Townsend who lost more.

Nope. Both times a bee landed on her arm and she sat patiently. I was there for the first time; we were doing a 5k walk & the little bugger rode on her arm for the better part of a mile. She’s always been incredible with all kinds of creatures.
